Koijee Calls on Supporters to Keep Calm and Await Election Results

Monrovia, Liberia – In order to maintain calm while waiting for the National Elections Commission to declare the results, Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Tamba Koijee has urged Coalition for Democratic Change supporters to stay quiet.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Monrovia City Hall, Koijee praised Liberians for their massive election attendance and revealed that they have shown the world that they are peaceful people by going about their democratic process in a peaceful manner.

In order to serve as a deterrent for potential violators, Koijee urged the Ministry of Justice to prosecute anyone involved in violent crimes.

“The Ministry of Justice should penalise offenders as a deterrent, making the violators realise that if they break the law, they will be apprehended and dealt with by the authorities.”

The city mayor asserted that only the people of this nation can maintain its peace since they will either be its beneficiaries or its victims. As such, it is imperative that one avoid falling for any kind of deception or learning how to put the nation’s peace in jeopardy.

We believe that they have taken heed of our teachings of peace; you have once again demonstrated to the world that Liberians are peaceful people. We wish to reassure you and our friends abroad that Liberia is a peaceful country and that we will continue to support and uphold that peace.
