Three Liberians Students Wins 2023 Academic Excellence Award In Montserrado District 13

Monrovia, Liberia – Three Liberian valedictorians from Bishop Tue Institute, Assembly of God High School, and ST. Michael Catholic School have won the district 13 Academic Excellence Award this year. They did so after a rigorous and demanding academic screening procedure.

Alicia S. Tweh from St. Michael Catholic School, who placed first with a cash price of $50,000, Sam P. Sonpon from the Bishop Tue Institute, who came in second with a cash price of $30.000, and Princess B. Henry from Grace Assembly of God High School, took third place with a cash price of $20.000, are the three students who made it to this year’s academic excellence award final.

The District 13 Excellence Award is an academic programme designed to enhance, fortify, and expand the abilities of students who graduate as valedictorious from their respective high schools. It also aims to equip students to take on challenges in the future beyond high school.

Andy Bropleh Jallah, a young Liberian citizen currently living in the United States, is the only sponsor of the excellence award project through the ABJ foundation.

Providing a summary, ABJ Foundation’s Education Director, Ramsey T. Sumanie, informed the audience on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the second district 13 Excellence Award ceremony, that the initiative’s goal was to honour the district’s top three valedictorians and to recognise and reward academic excellence.

“This program continue to be a symbol of our commitment to education and the empowerment of young minds within district 13” he noted that the ABJ foundation aim to inspire and motivate students to strive for excellence in their academic sojourn.

In order to motivate and honour individuals who put in the hard effort during the six-week training but were not selected for the final, they were also awarded a financial prize of $7000 LD apiece.

The ABJ Foundation was established in 2018 with the goal of empowering citizens through a range of educational activities and offering cutting-edge services, according to Mr. Andy Bropleh Jallah, the foundation’s founder and CEO, in a special statement.

From the United States of America, Jallah stated that since the foundation’s founding, it has actively participated in educational initiatives targeted at enhancing literacy and offering financial assistance to underprivileged children, as seen by the creation of its yearly academic excellence award programme, among other initiatives.

He discloses that the foundation has implemented several educational initiatives and projects throughout the district, such as the building of the district administrative centre, financial assistance for students, and the district inter-high school quiz competition and academic achievement award programme, among other things.
