Monrovia, Liberia – A high-level delegation from Liberia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports is set to travel to France this weekend, following an invitation from Liberia’s Ambassador to France, Teeko T. Yorlay Sr. Minister of Youth and Sports Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah will lead the delegation. Alongside her will be G. Andy Quamie, Deputy Minister for Sports, as well as representatives from the Liberia Basketball Association, the Liberia Football Association, and other important players in Liberian sports.
The group will interact with a team organized by the Liberian Embassy in Paris upon their arrival in France. Ambassador Yorlay, Deputy Chief of Mission Emmanuel Saye Larmah, and Sports Liaison Mohammed Diallo will be part of the embassy delegation.
Minister Kruah will meet with Marina Ferrari, the French Minister of Sports, Youth, and Community Life, as part of the visit. It is anticipated that the talks will center on enhancing bilateral collaboration in sports and youth development.
The delegation will also tour a number of significant establishments and groups, such as Bourges F.C., a team connected to Senegalese football player Sadio Mané, and Ya’ats Sports Establishment, which is allegedly interested in creating a football academy in Liberia. Additional engagements will include meetings with French sporting federations in handball, basketball, volleyball, and judo.
Minister Kruah is scheduled to meet with Edward Donnelly, Executive Director of the French National Olympic Committee, in an effort to further establish international collaborations. Additionally, she will provide TésSud TV an interview. Beyond athletics, the team will investigate other general youth development programs, such as trips to Voltaic, a solar energy training facility and an AI firm, demonstrating Liberia’s commitment in sustainability and innovation.
The purpose of the tour is to establish significant partnerships that can boost Liberia’s sports industry and increase youth possibilities. On Monday, April 27, Minister Kruah is scheduled to start her formal visit of France.
