Over 35 Liberians Journalists in Monrovia have benefited from a one-day long Consultative Dialogue under the theme: “expanding media engagement and keeping issues of HIV, TB and Malaria high on the news agenda”.

Liberia Coordinating Mechanism has ended a one-day consultative Dialogue engagement with journalists in Liberia with support from USAID and Global fund partnership to create awareness on Tuberculosis, HIV, and Malaria.

The one-day Consultative Dialogue was organized by Liberia Coordinating Mechanism brought together over thirty-nine journalists from across Montserrado County.

Remarking at the opening of the day-long Consultative Dialogue, Health Minister Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah said, about 19, 855 adults are undergoing treatment of HIV as of December 2021, while 7445 cases of TB have been reported so far.

According to Dr. Jallah, 95 percent of suspected malaria cases in Liberia have received a parasitological test at public health facilities. Liberia’s Health Minister noted that the media played a pivotal role in disseminating the necessary information that the public can use as a way of knowing about HIV, TB, Malaria, and Covid-19.

She further that the Ministry of Health rolls out vaccination in the fight against COVID-19 thereby drastically reducing the spread of the virus in the country.
