The Liberia Football Association (LFA) has charged Bea Mountain forward Mark Paye with violent conduct and “barred” him from all LFA activities for one year following the incident that marred the ORANGE 1st Division league match between LISCR and Bea Mountain on Sunday, 5 December at Tusa Field.
The Secretariat of the LFA announced the decision of the Competition Department citing VIOLATION OF CHAPTER 8 & 21 (FORFEITURE) & (DISCIPLINARY MATTERS) of the Competition Rules after Sunday’s game which saw the Liberian international dismissed for a second bookable offense in the 83rd minute.
The decision is however subject to appeal by the player in 72 hours. Paye was under the yellow card after removing his shirt when he scored Gold Boys’ crucial second goal in a 6 pointer game involving third-placed (LISCR) versus second-placed (Bea Mountain) and was shown a second yellow card in the 83rd minute by referee Moses Forkpah when he refused to exit the field using the shortest route when substituted.
The player was seen on camera taking a couple of forwarding steps before shoving the referee who immediately collapsed forcing the game to be abandoned. Meanwhile, in a separate communication, the Competition Department has ruled that Bea Mountain Football Club forfeited the three-match points with a 2 minutes goal difference after the incident forced the match to be abandoned.
Like Paye, Bea Mountain can also appeal the decision of the Competition Department within 72 hours of the LFA communication. Below are the full verses of the Competition rules that were violated by Mark Paye and Bea Mountain Football Club.
Article 5 Section 5.0, III:
“The player/club supports or initiates an act responsible for the abrupt end of the match”
Article 2 Section 1.1:
