Liberia FIFA Referee George S. Rogers, Jr. has been appointed by CAF as one of its General Coordinators (GC) and has subsequently been invited to Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, to conclude the training for such appointment.

The international FIFA referee has been participating in online training with CAF since March of this year in his supposed new role as GC. Mr. Rogers’ appointment as General Coordinator by CAF is the second Liberia appointee following the initial appointment of Deputy Minister G. Andy Quamie as GC currently serving as CAF Security Officer and Stadium Inspector.

The appointment means, FIFA Referee George S. Rogers, Jr. who has been an LFA referee since 2016 will retire as a referee with immediate effect because of the new role. Mr. Rogers is a two-time LFA award-winning referee in the 2018 and 2021 ORANGE National League. The FIFA Referee officiated in two Knock-Out finals, three (3) National County Meet semi-finals, and hosts of Super Cup matches.

He also officiated the 2022 AFCON Qualifier in Ouagadougou between Burkina Faso and South Sudan in March 2021 and served as Fourth Official in the 2022 Qatar World Cup Qualifiers between Burkina Faso and Djibouti on 11 October a fixture that was played in Marrakech, Morocco.

Mr. Rogers has been involved in four (4) top-flight league matches in the fledgling campaign of the ORANGE 2021/22 National League including Mighty Barrolle vs Freeport, Invincible Eleven vs Nimba Kwado, LISCR home tie with newly promoted Sandi, and Freeport trip vs Nimba United on Match Day 4, November 2021.

Outside of football, Mr. Rogers is a Borders Patrol Commander for Bomi County, Liberia Immigration Service (LIS), a Trainer of LIS since 2019, specializing in weaponry, drills, and ceremonies, and physical fitness, and formerly a member of the 2nd Class of 2007 of the AFL.

Meanwhile, the referee has expressed profound gratitude to the Liberia Football Association (LFA) for the recommendation to start with and the level of confidence reposed in him for the new task at hand and promised to execute the task ahead.
