Paynesville, Liberia – The rivalry between LPRC Oilers and NPA Pythons has consistently produced some of the most intense and highly contested games in the Liberia Basketball League. Over the weekend at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex Gymnasium, Game Four of the best-of-five First Division championship series lived up to expectations, as fans of both teams packed the gym to rally behind their respective clubs.
NPA Pythons entered the encounter needing just one more victory to be crowned champions after taking a 2-1 series lead following Game Three. However, LPRC Oilers captain and Most Valuable Player, Fedelh Marshall, delivered a standout performance, scoring 25 of his team’s 53 points as the Oilers edged their rivals 53-51 in a dramatic encounter.
The turning point came during the final two minutes, when the Oilers staged a remarkable late comeback to snatch the crucial victory and force the championship series into a decisive Game Five. Following the final whistle, LPRC Oilers fans, led by Managing Director Amos Tweh and his deputies, Jacob Smith and Eric Ceekay Sayee, erupted in massive celebrations inside the gym.
Speaking after the victory, LPRC Oilers Deputy for Operations Eric Ceekay Sayee, in a jubilant mood, said he remains confident in his earlier prediction that the Oilers will successfully defend their championship title. Meanwhile, the Women’s Division championship series has also gone to a decisive Game Five after D-Rockas defeated their opponents 51-43 in Game Four.
Game Five in both the Men’s First Division and Women’s Division will be played on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the SKD Gymnasium. In another championship series, Bushrod Dreams were crowned champions after defeating Paynesville Bulldogs 67-64 in Game Four to win the series 3-1. Junior Rockies also captured the Men’s Third Division championship after recording another victory over Louisiana Blazers, defeating them 74-70 to complete their championship campaign.
