LFA Introduces Women’s Football Initiative in Bong County

Garnga, Bong County – The Liberia Football Association (LFA) continues to place a high priority on creating a passion for football among girls between the ages of six and twelve. After the official 2025 start in Montserrado on November 28, the LFA expanded its Women’s Football Campaign push to Gbarnga, Bong County, on Friday, December 5.

This grassroots initiative is especially important because Bong is one of the counties without a women’s football league at the moment. In addition to inspiring a passion for the game, this program, which is funded by FIFA through the FIFA Women’s Football Development Programme, aims to raise the number of girls participating in football at the grassroots level, empowering the upcoming generation of female football players.

In Gbarnga, more than 400 girls expressed themselves on the field, giving them a sense of belonging, enjoyment, and inspiration. The initiative is directly in line with the Grassroots and Youth Football Development Pillar (LITTLE PHENOMS) of the LFA Women’s Football Strategy Plan.

Five counties, Montserrado, Bong, Margibi, Rivercess, and Sinoe will participate in the campaign. With this launch, a concerted national effort to improve women’s football and give them the confidence to perceive potential in every moment they spend on the field will continue.
