The upcoming Liberia Football Association elections committee headed by Cllr Jacob Deyrell has released guidelines for the processes leading to the election.
Speaking at a news conference on Saturday, March 19, 2022, in Monrovia, Cllr. Deyrell acknowledged that a candidate must be nominated by a member of congress, and must not be found guilty of any criminal act.
He or she must pay a non-refundable fee of one thousand United States dollars USD$1,000 for President, seven hundred fifty United States dollars USD$700 for Vice President, and five hundred USD$500 for Executive Committee Member.
The minimum academy qualification for a candidate is a high school diploma, and must be a Liberian and a resident in the country, and must present two passport side photos.
Cllr. Deyrell mentioned that only the secretariat shall present candidates’ packages to the Elections Committee and not the candidates.
He also noted that the deadline for the submission of the candidate’s package is Tuesday, March 22, 2022, at 5 pm instead of the previous Saturday, March 19, 2022.
” The extension date for candidates registration came at the recent decision from the Executive Committee sitting. We all know that the Executive Committee is the highest decision making of the LFA despite being the election commissioner does not enable me to go against the decision of the Executive Committee, he said”.
” We will do everything possible to stage the election at the appropriate date, April 18, 2022, at the SKD Sports Complex Gymnasium in Paynesville free and transparency he added”.
” Any candidates who feel dissatisfied with some decisions during the elections have three days to file an appeal, while the appeal committee will take four days to look into the matter, Cllr Deyrell mentioned”.
