Liberia’s Chief Referee Lamin K. Kamara will call time on his refereeing career this Sunday, February 6, 2022, at the Tusa Field Pitch in Gardnerville, ironically where his career began nearly three decades ago as a student referee.

The former FIFA Badge Referee dubbed ‘’Libyan or CR7’’ will retire from active refereeing shortly after serving as Fourth Official in the ORANGE 1st Division League fixture this weekend involving MC Breweries and Bea Mountain.

Mr. Kamara has served as Liberia’s Chief Referee since December 5, 2012, after serving as deputy for the previous two years.

In a colorful career that started in August 1993 as a Student Referee, Mr. Kamara was rewarded for his hard work to the rank of Junior Referee (Class B) in 1996.

Just two years after, he was promoted to the ranking of National Referee (Class A) before being enlisted as a FIFA Badge referee in 2005 where he served consistently for seven (7) years.

Since 2017, Referee Kamara has been serving as a local Referee Instructor until his ensuing retirement this weekend.

The FIFA Referee’s dedicated call to service earned him several trips on duty around Africa including Tanzania, Nigeria, Benin, Ivory Coast, Egypt, Kenya, Guinea, Ghana amongst others.

Mr. Kamara earned several international training certificates which included: Nine (9) FIFA/CAF Member Association Courses and FIFA Futuro III Instructor Course in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Following his resignation on February 6, 2022, Mr. Kamara will stand as a candidate for president in the Liberia Football Referee Association (LIFRA) Elections which is slated for Saturday, February 26, 2022.

Below is the summary of the illustrious career of a referee who started blowing the whistle in August 1993:
