Monrovia, Liberia – The deaths of three cherished musicians in a single week have left the Liberian gospel music community in deep sadness. This is a devastating and unprecedented series of losses that has rocked the country.
On Sunday, July 12, 2026, JustPrince Sherman, a well-known and well-regarded gospel performer, passed away. This marked the start of the heartbreaking sequence. His devotion, his strong voice, and the spiritual depth he added to Liberia’s gospel music landscape were remembered by fans, other musicians, and church communities around the nation, as tributes flooded in.
The announcement of gospel singer Atina Barclay’s death on Monday, July 13, just one day later, handed the country yet another painful blow. Miracle Kettor, a fellow gospel performer, attended her tribute ceremony and made an appearance on Facebook Live, giving a lively and happy performance in memory of her lost colleague. Many who had gathered to grieve found solace in her lively presence.
Sadly, Miracle Kettor was also declared dead less than a day after that performance. Many others were shocked by the news, wondering how someone so vibrant on television could have vanished so quickly. Three gospel performers. Three hearts. lost in a few days.
The Liberian gospel fraternity, which was previously a close-knit group based on shared ministry, friendship, and religion, is currently experiencing unspeakable suffering. Churches that once resonated with their voices now pray for strength. Singing along to their music, fans now cry in remembrance of them.
Despite their brief lives, they were devoted to both their profession and the faith they expressed in every song. They were ministers, not just singers. They inspired instead of just performing.
