Reaffirms Commitment To Global Peace
Monrovia, Liberia – In honor of the 80th anniversary of the UN Charter’s signing, Liberia, one of the organization’s original members, has joined the international community in reflecting on eight decades of collaboration, growth, and a shared dedication to human rights, peace, and development.
Being one of just four African countries to attend the landmark San Francisco Conference in 1945, Liberia’s influence on the UN’s mission is solidly grounded in its diplomatic heritage and support of international collaboration.
On the international scene, Liberia has long been a cornerstone of sustainable development, mediation, peacebuilding, and the protection of human rights.
According to our sources from the One UN House, the government of Liberia and the UN Country Team are co-hosting this year’s UN Day celebration, which has as its national theme “One Liberia, One UN, One Future: 80 Years of Partnership and Progress.” The global theme is “Building Our Future Together.”
Eight decades of reflections, photo exhibits, school outreach, community involvement, media events, and field-level initiatives are just a few of the events that will be held as part of the commemoration to showcase the long-standing collaboration between Liberia and the UN.
However, Liberia’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2025 has enhanced its standing as a global champion of peace and collaboration.
The nation is still an advocate for issues like women’s empowerment, inclusive growth, climate action, and youth involvement in peace and security.
The event underscores Liberia’s commitment to promote the common values of the international community while also honoring its legacy within the UN.
