Liberian Journalist Visits Qnet’s Head Office In Malaysia And Recounts Positive Experience

QNET, a global wellness and lifestyle direct selling company may be battling misrepresentation and the misuse its brand name, journalists from top Sierra Leonean and Liberian media organisations who have travelled to QNET’s head office in Malaysia and attended its global conference, VCON, believe the company is genuine and manufactures internationally recognised and certified products. This was revealed at a QNET VCON media webinar held on 10th October, 2024.

The aim of the QNET VCON webinar is to create a platform for journalists who have visited the Head Office of QNET and attended its flagship global conference to share their experiences with other journalists. The exercise is part of QNET’s ongoing efforts to deepen media engagements and fight misrepresentation and scams.

David Yates of the Daily Observer Newspaper who is the first Liberian journalist to visit the QNET Head Office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and attend QNET’s global conference, VCON in Penang, Malaysia said his perception and misconceptions about QNET have changed from negativity to admiration and positivity.

“I was happy to visit QNET’s office in Malaysia because it offered me an opportunity to independently scrutinise the company and understand its business model, products and challenges. I was amazed at what I witnessed. QNET’s QI Tower, which houses QNET’s corporate offices is a tall building with many levels and departments. A fake company would not bother to invest such much into owning a gigantic edifice such as the QI Tower and employ hundreds of people from many parts of the world. So, my first question about QNET’s authenticity was answered by what I saw.”

“On my way to the beautiful island of Penang for QNET’s signature global conference, VCON, we made a stop at the QI University. It is a wonderful university with a practical and futuristic approach to learning. I would call it the Harvard of Asia. They offer top-notch medical, technology, science, business and liberal art courses making the university a holistic centre of excellence in education.”

“At Penang, I was ushered in as a VIP guest with other journalists from Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, Togo and Benin. I saw more than 8,000 people at the venue, it is the largest crowd most people would ever see in an auditorium. Participants were from different parts of the world including Liberia. It was an electrifying moment especially when the founders of the company shared their testimonies and the history of the company that started 26 years ago.”

“I had a unique opportunity to attend a special media roundtable with corporate leaders of QNET and spoke to the Chief Marketing Officer, Trevor Kuna, Chief Communications Officer for the QI Group, Ramya Chandrasekeran, Chief Legal Officer, Nikhil Patel, Regional General Manager for sub-Saharan Africa, Biram Fall and others. I asked them pertinent questions including what QNET is doing in Liberia and Sierra Leone to reverse the negative perception about the brand. They said there are plans on deepening engagement with key stakeholders including security and regulatory agencies, embarking public and media education campaigns and strengthening media engagements.”

He concluded: “I am now an unofficial ambassador for QNET in its fight against scams and misrepresentation. I think the company does not deserve the level of misuse of its name and misinformation that is flying around. It is a genuine company with some of the best products you can ever get. I was given some of the products and I have used it and I can testify there are top-notch. In fact, my family is asking why I did not come back with a ‘truck-load’ of the products.”

The Senior Legal Counsel of QNET for sub-Saharan Africa, Naana Quartey explained that the media webinar was designed to help the media familiarise with the brand, know its business model, products and the efforts it is making in fighting misrepresentation and scams.  She said from 2022 till date, QNET has hosted four batches of journalists from Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Togo and Benin at the VCON in Malaysia.
