Dakar, Senegal – Douglas Sackor, a promising forward from Liberia, has formally started a 10-day trial with Mawade Football Club, a premier Senegalese team renowned for its focus on competitive football and youth development. The trial, which got underway in Dakar on Monday, July 21, is a crucial chance for the gifted teen to land a developmental contract with the team.
Sackor wants to leave a lasting impact during his time with the Senegalese team. He has garnered notice for his speed, technical skill, and goal-scoring instinct. Sackor is a graduate of one of Liberia’s most prestigious grassroots football organizations, the Africa New Star Sports Academy.
This chance follows Sackor’s recent recognition as the 2025 Momo Community League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), a young football competition co-hosted by Lonestar MTN and the Liberian Football Association (LFA). Emerging talent from all throughout Liberia was displayed at the competition, and Sackor’s exceptional exploits were crucial in drawing the interest of local scouts.
Sackor’s developing football career would reach a significant turning point with a move to Mawade FC, which would lead to more competitive football on the West African and global stages. If the trial is successful, a developmental agreement may be reached, giving the child the professional setting he needs to advance his career and hone his skills.
As more young players like Sackor continue to draw interest from clubs overseas, this trial further highlights Liberian youth football’s rising stature. With organized developmental programs and assistance from regional academies, Liberia’s football future appears bright.
The technical team of Mawade FC will be constantly monitoring Sackor’s development throughout the trial, and reports on the results of their evaluation are anticipated in the days ahead.
