LNP Charged Fobay Johnson for Alleged Armed Robbery at Eco -Bank Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia – In connection with an alleged armed robbery at Ecobank headquarters in Sinkor, the Liberia National Police charged Fobay E. Johnson for robbery, attempted murder, and possession and sale of physical objects for lethal use.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, August 11, 2025, police spokesperson, Cecelia Clarke said, Fobay E. Johnson was charged with armed robbery, criminal attempt to commit murder, and possession and sale of physical objects for lethal use under Liberia’s revised penal code.

According to Madam Clarke, Johnson, admitted during the investigation that he purchased a single barrel shotgun and ammunition for US$60 in Ganta, Nimba County.

A CCTV footage reviewed during the investigation shows Johnson in the office of Ecobank accountant Angeline L. Sillah, wearing a nose mask and a black Marvin Gaye hat pointing the gun at her.

Police said, they recovered the firearm, three rounds of ammunition, pepper spray, the tape, a nose mask, and the hat from Johnson’s possession.

It can be recorded that on August 6, 2025, the Liberia National Police arrested Fobay E. Johnson for alleged arm robbery at Eco-bank 11th Street, Sinkor branch.

On August 6, a University of Liberia instructor, Fobay Emery Johnson attempted to rob a private banking room and attacked an accountant.
