LNP Describes Deaths and Injuries at UP Headquarters as Massacare

SENDS DEFENDANT TO COURT

Capitol Hill, Monrovia – The fatalities and injuries of Unity Party members and sympathizers at its headquarters have been referred to as a massacre by the Liberia National Police (LNP). The LNP referred to the recent horrific incident at the Unity Party Headquarters, which left three people dead and twenty-five injured, as a massacre.

Police investigations claimed that financial or psychological rewards were the driving force behind suspect Lawrence Williams’s actions. Following a police investigation, it was discovered that defendant Williams had deliberately, maliciously, and purposely caused the deaths of three persons and critically injured twenty-two others.

Defendant Lawrence Williams faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and reckless endangerment of another individual, all of which are pending trial in court. On November 20, 2023, at around 22:00 (or 10:00 PM local time), a car driver who ran into some UP supporters who were celebrating their victory at the headquarters following the announcement of the UP candidate’s victory in the recently concluded 2023 presidential election by the National Election Commission of Liberia.
