Monrovia, Liberia – The staff of the Liberia Refugee Repartition and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) has concluded a two-day retreat. In a brief interview following the retreat’s conclusion, Patrick Worzie, Executive Director of LRRRC, outlined the retreat’s significance.
The General Auditing Commission, the General Services Agency, and the Civil Service Agency have been asked to perform a system audit with a focus on finances, people, and assets, the LRRRC Executive Director added.
Worzie emphasized that the goal of the exercise is to close any gap in order for the institution to go forwards in line with its mandate and fully implement the government’s ARREST agenda.
According to him, the commission’s volunteer and current staff members gathered for the retreat, where they had a discussion on the LRRRC’s goal and how the commission help those who might be impacted by natural disasters like storms and rain.
“The retreat also focused on former Ivorian and Sierra Leonean refugees who have chosen to settle in Liberia, there is a need to seek passport for most of them. We have also taken into consideration the plight of people who appeared to be stateless as a result of their failure to show any identification cards to claim the Liberian nationality.”
“The retreat has prompted the commission to develop a contingency plan that will respond to the vulnerable including fire and flood victims. It will also provide the critical path analysis that will be used to launch and implement the operation “Bring back our people from Ghana.’’
According to ED Worzie, the participants decided that the commission review the previous leadership of the institution’s work and rebrand and restructure it. Mr. Worzie concluded with emphasizing that the President’s Delivery Unit, Ministry of State, and other pertinent Government ministries and agencies are to work closely with these efforts.
