Accra, Ghana – The Government of Liberia group, led by Cllr. Jeddi Armah, Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, landed in Accra, Ghana, over the weekend to begin a mission that will be crucial.
To address urgent challenges affecting the Liberian community and their relocation, the delegation had a number of crucial meetings to begin the process. In order to discuss the nuances of the matter, they have since met with the Honorable Tetteh K. Padi, Head of the Ghana Refugee Board.
The team met with the leaders of the Liberian community in Buduburam to further their dedication to communication and cooperation, creating a setting that encourages mutual understanding and cooperation.
A momentous event occurred at the meeting with Cllr. Jeddi Armah, the Deputy Minister for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: the Ghana Refugee Board pledged to cease the pending lawsuit, providing a collective sense of relief to everybody involved.
The Refugee Board has started the process of resettling about 261 Liberian nationals to the Cape Coast area, which is a significant step towards resolution.
The initial group of fifty people left on April 6, 2024, to begin their journey to the new colony; the remaining persons are expected to relocate on Monday, April 8, 2024.
In the future, the convoy will be fully secured by the Ghana Refugee Board during the repatriation process, which is scheduled to start on May 1 and end on May 20, 2024.
The head of the team said that the group is steadfast in its commitment to guaranteeing the well-being and security of the resettling community.
