Marshall Family Regains Ownership of Sinkor Property

As Court Orders NEC to Vacate Property

Monrovia, Liberia – The estate of the late Francis Marshall has won a significant legal win when the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court for Montserrado County ordered the National Elections Commission to leave a contested property on 9th Street, Sinkor.

In a summary procedure to regain control of real property, resident Judge Peter W. Gbeneweleh rendered a decision on April 13 in favour of the Marshall estate, which was represented by Administratrix Mai Thompson and family member Godwin Marshall. To implement the decision, a Writ of Possession was granted on Tuesday.

The Montserrado County Sheriff was instructed by Assistant Clerk of Court Daniel Y. McGill to promptly evict the NEC and all residents acting under its authority from the property and promptly return it to the Marshall family. After execution, the sheriff must report back to the court.

The decision puts an end to years of legal uncertainty regarding a property that the family considers to be a part of their heritage.
