Monrovia, Liberia – In an effort to keep Monrovia Clean and Green, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Saturday August 17, 2024 collaborated with the Monrovia City Cooperation to carry out a cleanup exercise in Sinkor.
According to the MCC Director General for Sanitation Success Harris, the exercise aimed at improving the standard of living for locals, encouraging cleanliness among community dwellers.
He added that preserving a clean and orderly environment is essential in developing country like Liberia.
He stated that the cleaning project is a component of the MCC’s continuous community engagement program, which aimed to collaborate with the local communities in order to address the widespread issues of litter and unhygienic conditions in the city.
Mr. Harris highlighted a number of significant locations that were included in the exercise, including public parks, streets 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18, and avenues such as Russell, Cheeseman, Gibson, and Sinkor’s business districts.
Augustine Geedeh, speaking on behalf of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints workforce, pointed out that the Sinkor cleanup project is a prime example of the value of community relationships in tackling environmental issues and demonstrates the advantages of government agencies and religious institutions cooperating toward a shared objective.
In order to maintain a clean and green city, he continued, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is very happy that the cleaning project was carried out flawlessly in cooperation with the Monrovia City Corporation.
To keep the Sinkor cleanup program neat and to encourage others to join them in making Monrovia a clean city, towns and people are being urged to take responsibility for their surroundings.
