    NEC Staffs Under Investigation

    RELATING TO ELECTORAL MUL PRATICE

    Sinkor, Monrovia – Nine of the National Elections Commission’s temporary employees have been sent over to the Liberia National Police for an inquiry by the board of commissioners.The arrested people were allegedly involved in vote tampering in Grand Cape Mount and Montserrado counties, according to NEC Chairperson Madam Davidetta Brown Lassanah.

    According to Madam Lassana, these NEC temporary employees are being held by the police until the end of their investigation and their arrangement in a court of law. The commission gives all political parties and interested parties the assurance that the attempted unethical behavior was stopped and that it had no bearing whatsoever on the results of the local elections.

    Temporary NEC staff who were allegedly involved in vote tampering in Grand Cape Mount County:
    a. Philip A. Zoedua, District Electoral Coordinator, District #1
    b. Patience Woniyou…Presiding Officer polling place #1 Weajue Public School 12035
    c. Mohamed Kemoh… Presiding Officer polling place #3 Weajue Public School 12035
    d. Mauna Passeway,… Presiding Officer polling place #4 Weajue Public School 12035

    Temporary NEC staff who were allegedly involved in votes tampering in Montserrado County:
    a. Gussin S. Mongai,….. Temporary Staff Application #086791, Electoral District #4
    b. Jemama M. Tugbeh, Temporary Staff Application #089187, Electoral District #4
    c. Jay K. Gbassagee, Temporary Staff Application #061403 Electoral District #8
    d. Tracy T. Paasewe, Temporary Staff Application #063265, Electoral District #15
    e. Victor T. Johnson, Temporary Staff Application #102959 Electoral District #15

    According to the head of the NEC, since these people are listed in the NEC database, they will not be employed by the organisation in upcoming elections.

    In addition, she expressed her gratitude to the temporary employees for their sacrifices made in order to carry out the October 10, 2023, presidential and legislative elections. However, the commission asks that they maintain their composure while their payment is processed and will be released in the upcoming days.
