    Calls for constructive partnerships that would benefit the Country’s development model

    President George Manneh Weah of Liberia met with the newly elected President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the Qasr Al Shati Palace on Monday, May 30, 2022, to congratulate him on his election and express his condolences on the death of the former leader Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

    Mr. Weah at the same time offered his wishes for sustained progress and development in the Emirates during the meeting with his UAE counterpart. The Meeting was part of President Weah’s official visit to the United Arab Emirates.

    Liberia’s intention to expand collaboration with the UAE through constructive partnerships that promote the country’s development model was also emphasized by President Weah.

    Mr. Weah expressed his sympathies to the UAE government and people on the demise of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as he did on May 13, 2022, and highlighted the late president’s track record and participation in the UAE’s comprehensive development program.

    Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, also conveyed his gratitude and appreciation to President Weah for expressing heartfelt thoughts about the passing of the late Sheikh Khalifa, previous President of the UAE, and towards the UAE leadership and people.

    Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor for Special Affairs at the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, as well as several officials and the Liberian delegation, attended the meeting.

    Meanwhile, as part of their State visit to the UAE, President Weah and his delegation met with Emirati billionaire Shamsheer Vayalil on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. Investments in Liberia’s healthcare industry were the topic of discussion.

    President Weah is scheduled to leave the United Arab Emirates on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, to attend an Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Governments of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Accra, Ghana, according to the Executive Mansion. The summit will focus on Mali, Guinea, and Burkina Faso’s political and security crises.
