Pres. Weah creates Rice Stabilization Taskforce

Monrovia, Release-To guarantee that the nation’s primary grain is available on the market, President George Manneh Weah established the “Rice Stabilization Taskforce.” The decision was made on Monday, October 17, 2022, by the Liberian President. The Taskforce is made up of the Ministries of Justice, State for Presidential Affairs, Commerce and Industry, Finance and Development Planning, and Agriculture.

Other organizations include the National Port Authority, the Liberia Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Steve Flahn-Paye, the Coordinator Japanese Counterpart Value Fund, and Mr. Charles Bright, economic advisor to the president. The Taskforce will be led by the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs and co-led by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, respectively.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Weah has mandated members of the Taskforce to design and execute measures that will make rice available at all times on the market. Meanwhile, the Taskforce is to resume its functions immediately.
