Monrovia – The senior High annex of Monrovia’s Boatswain Junior High school has been formally dedicated by Liberia’s President George Manneh Weah. Speaking at the dedication ceremony on Friday, February 17, 2023, in Monrovia, the Liberian Leader emphasized the importance of education and pledged that his government will keep funding the nation’s educational system.
Providing a high-quality education for every citizen of the nation is the government’s duty, Mr. Weah added. He charged the administrators of the institution to run it in the best interests of everyone.
This is the first time in the institution’s history since it was founded in 1968 that it has been elevated to a senior high school. In related news, President George Manneh Weah has appointed Nimba University’s 14-member Board of Trustees. President Weah, who is a Regular Visitor to the university, named Hon. Jeremiah Kpan Koung, Senator of Nimba County; Hon. Johnson N. Gwaikolo, House of Representatives, Hon. Larry P. Younquoi and Prof. Dao Ansu Sonii Minister of Education.
Others are Prof. Edward Lama Wonkeryor Director General of National Commissioner on Higher Education; Dr. Jesse Noah Mongrue, President of Nimba University (Board Secretary); Hon. Samuel D. Tweah, Minister of Finance and Development Planning; Hon. Whilemina Jallah, Minister of Health; and Mrs. Tomah S. Floyd, Chief Executive Officer of Jungle Water Group of Investment.
The rest are the Chief Executive Officer, ArcelorMittal Liberia Ltd; Chief Executive Officer, Firestone Rubber Corporation; and the President, Alumni Association of Nimba University. President Weah however cautioned members to ensure the smooth running of the university to achieve its cardinal objective of building quality future leaders of Nimba and Liberia at large.
