Ahead of the Liberian government’s planned National Funding raising program for removing thousands of At-Risk Youths (zogos) from the streets, President George Weah has attributed the increasing waves of young people addicted to drugs in the Country to parental indiscipline.

Speaking at a one-day supporting event organized by the government aimed at creating awareness for the official fundraising program, President Weah said the refusal of most parents to discipline their children is a key factor leading to scores of young people going astray.

The Liberian leader stated that when children are not disciplined, they grow up on the streets thus making them drug users.

President Weah named Cocaine, heroines, and weed among others are being used by the astray youth due to the lack of parental discipline.

He said that the government is going to raise USD$13.8 million to rehabilitate and remove at-risk youth from the streets but urged parents to respond to discipline and raise their children for the betterment of the Nation.

On June 30, 2022, the Government of Liberia and Development Partners will hold a USD$13.8 million for the rehabilitation and empowerment of the growing number of at-risk youth in the country, who are otherwise referred to as Zogos.

The event will take place at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.
