President Boakai Commissions 15 Vehicles for LDEA Operations

To Strengthens National Drug Initiatives

Capitol Hill, Monrovia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has demonstrated his leadership and determination by formally handing over 15 new operational cars to the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), reaffirming his Administration’s commitment to creating a safer and drug-free Liberia.

Held on the grounds of the Executive Mansion, the ceremony reaffirmed the President’s commitment to supporting the nation’s war against illegal drugs and protecting the country’s youth and the future.

In keeping with his commitment to upholding discipline, accountability, and service in public institutions, President Boakai asked LDEA officers to regard themselves as stewards of Liberia’s overall welfare. He reminded them that the fight on drugs is a national, generational, and moral struggle, not just an institutional one.

President Boakai said, “It is your duty to keep this country drug-free. We must start to love our country and be responsible citizens, taking Liberia as ours and protecting it as such.”

The President characterized the cars’ display as a call to higher service and a sign of trust in addition to being a logistical assistance gesture. He stressed that the vehicles must be maintained with a sense of responsibility and patriotism and utilized only for operational purposes.

With the addition of the 15 new cars, the agency’s fleet now stands at 21, a significant increase from the six that were previously available. President Boakai pointed out that this improvement is a reflection of his government’s continuous efforts to provide law enforcement agencies with the tools they need to effectively defend Liberia’s communities against the drug epidemic.

He emphasized that enabling state institutions to operate effectively and morally, earning the public’s trust via discipline, transparency, and quantifiable outcomes—elements he intends the LDEA to exhibit is essential to his Administration’s larger national security strategy.

In his thank-you remarks, LDEA Acting Officer-in-Charge Fitzgerald Biago commended the President’s leadership and promised that the Agency will fulfill its mission with renewed vigor and responsibility. According to the LDEA Boss, a fleet management and deployment system has been implemented to guarantee the vehicles’ appropriate use, with a zero-tolerance policy against misuse and neglect being enforced.

According to the OIC, his agency is thrilled about this concrete assistance and promises that his Force will be better equipped to get started and step up activities in all of the major hotspots.

In order to break up drug networks and reduce usage across the country, he continued, the LDEA’s national strategy is still centered on intelligence-led enforcement, community surveillance, and proactive collaboration with foreign partners. Under President Boakai’s direction, the commissioning represents yet another significant step in addressing one of Liberia’s most urgent socioeconomic and public safety issues.

The President urged communities, parents, schools, and faith-based organizations to join the battle as he strives to strengthen social order and create national institutions.
