Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph N. Boakai commended over 126 At-Risk-Youth youths who have been rehabilitated from illicit drug use after they graduated from Rehabilitation Centers and received certificates from the Joint Inter-Sectorial At-Risk-Youth Empowerment Program, which was established by the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
In four counties Montserrado, Margibi, Grand Bass, and Bomi, the over 126 At-Risk-Youth received rehabilitation and acquired knowledge in various vocational skills.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, President Boakai stated that while a nation may lose all of its wealth, the loss of its youth is immeasurable.
He asserted that the government has achieved success in its efforts to reposition the country, particularly the youth, with the rehabilitation of over 126 At-Risk-Youth.
The Liberian leader clarified that his administration would expand on current initiatives and develop new ones to help rehabilitate drug-addled young people from the streets.

“My fellow graduates, I can’t adore my heart to you for your conscious decision to answer the path you are on in search of a change in life for good. I consider you to be sincere given the situation and time. We applaud your bravery and the boldness of your optimistic thinking. Not only did you decide to leave the safety of self-inflicted addiction, but you also seized the chance to take charge of your own destiny. I appreciate you choosing the path you have chosen. You ought to be honored.”
He revealed that the Liberian government will work with the young people who have received rehabilitation to identify better options that will contribute to a meaningful and fulfilling life. The rehabilitated adolescents, according to the Liberian leader, are the country’s future great men and women.
President Boakai claimed that by choosing to undergo rehabilitation, they have made the right decision, providing the Liberian government and its allies with a platform to assist them in their recovery. He also added that it is the right decision to take back their future in order to pursue better employment opportunities, professional skills, and a better standard of living.
He clarified that young people are a nation’s light-wire and its most dependable asset when it comes to nation-building.
President Boakai proclaimed that the young people who have received rehabilitation are paneer beneficiaries of Liberia on the Frontline Patriots in the fight against drug laws; this means that the young people who have received rehabilitation are ambassadors of the rescue mission since they made the correct decision.
President Boakai revealed that the rehabilitated youngsters will be in charge of leading a tour of kurh and gatoos in and around Monrovia in their capacity as ambassadors.
“We want you to be the source of strength for your friends, encouraging them to follow your lead and build coverage. I want to invite them to come and be a part of this new community that you have built today. You truly comprise a group of young people who have been recovered, I appreciate your leadership.”
Indicating that the administration will continue to be accountable, President Boakai gave assurances to the UN and developing partners that Liberia will not be wasteful or disregard its resources, ingenuity, or sacrifices.
