Monrovia, Release- The President of Liberia George Manneh Weah has expressed his profound concern and sorrow in the wake of a Precision Air-operated commercial flight from Tanzania that crashed on Sunday, killing 19 persons.
President Weah expressed sincere condolences to the government and people of Tanzania, especially the bereaved families, for the irreparable losses sustained in a message to his Tanzanian counterpart, Madam Samia Suluhu Hassan, on behalf of the government and people of Liberia.
According to reports, a passenger plane that was attempting to land at an airstrip close to the northwest city of Bukoba crashed into Lake Victoria, killing 19 passengers. 24 people had been pulled from the wreckage as of Sunday night local time, according to a statement from the crash’s operator, Precision Airlines. Around 8:53 a.m. local time, the airplane from Dar es Salaam to Bukoba crashed, according to the report.
The airline reported that 43 people including 39 passengers and 4 crew members were on the flight when it crashed, noting that one of the passengers was a baby, The Washington Post reports.
