New York, USA -The president of Liberia, George Manneh Weah, has urged international leaders to cooperate in the fight against natural disasters, social, economic, and political instability. President Weah noted that his appeal was made with a view to resolving such difficulties in order to have a better, more secure, and prosperous future during his final address to the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in his first term.
In order to hasten the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), he urged the promotion of global solidarity and the restoration of trust. The SDGs were created with bilateral and multinational cooperation in mind to help achieve the outcomes aspired.
According to the Liberian Leader, the theme of this year’s debate, “Rebuilding Trust and Reigniting Global Solidarity: Accelerating Action on The 2030 Agenda and Its SDGs Towards Peace, Prosperity, Progress, and Sustainability For All,” accurately reflects the demands of today’s world.
President Weah assured that development aid in line with SDG initiatives is crucial. Noting that this is the reason, he and his delegation welcome and support the Secretary-General’s action plan to quicken the implementation of existing agreements, including the Sustainable Development Goals, to reaffirm global solidarity, and to find fresh ways to collaborate for the benefit of humanity.
