Harper, Maryland County – As Maryland County gets ready to host Group A in the 2025–2026 National County Sports Meet, extensive renovations have begun at the Martha Tubman Stadium in Harper. In this year’s edition of Liberia’s most renowned sporting event, Group A includes Maryland, River Cess, River Gee, and Grand Kru Counties.

Even though the renovations started later than expected, Mr. Gabriel Tarpeh, Chairman of the Maryland County Sports and Athletics Commission (MSAC), confirmed that the ongoing upgrades will greatly improve the stadium’s appearance and functionality before the tournament begins.

According to Mr. Tarpeh, the renovation drive is being powered by strong community involvement, including contributions from residents, local authorities, and partner organizations committed to helping Maryland County deliver a quality host venue for the national event.

Key areas of renovation include: Refurbishment of both stadium wings, Upgrades of coaches’ standing and technical boxes, Improved seating arrangements for match commissioners, Replacement and reinforcement of goalposts, and Multiple structural and aesthetic enhancements across the facility.

While the overall costs for the renovation has not been disclosed, MSAC officials claim the financial breakdown will be provided upon completion of the project. The ongoing improvements, if finalized, are intended to position Maryland County as a fully prepared and friendly host for visiting teams and supporters across Group A, setting the stage for an exciting and successful National County Sports Meet.
