Following a protest ruling against Montserrado County on Thursday by 2021/2022 National County Sports meet Protest Committee, Montserrado electoral District eight Representative, Acarous Gray has described the Ministry of Youth and Sports decision as a joke and a calculated attempt to undermine themselves.
It can be recalled on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, Margibi County filed a protest against Montserrado County for violating Article 15.8 of the competition which states that, absolutely no former or current senior national team player should be permitted to participate in the tournament.
Margibi in its communication said LISCR FC striker Mark Karley featured for the senior national team of Liberia in the 2019 WAFU Competition held in Senegal, adding that, Montserrado County decided to have used him against them in violation of the rules and regulations governing the tournament.
The Protest Committee headed by veteran journalist Malcolm Joseph after perusing the documents presented during the hearing and concluded that WAFU Nations Cup is a senior national team tournament which means, Montserrado County lost the three points they won against Margibi in their 2:1 victory.
The Montserrado County Lawmaker upon receiving the information posted on his official Facebook page indicating that, they will act in accordance with the law, but described the ruling as a bunch of historical jokers and sell-outs.
In less than 24 hours of his comment, he also posted that the Montserrado team has taken an appeal to the Board of Appeal.
He added that the decision is a disgrace to sports in Liberia.
