Scores of Women on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, carried out a mass protest at the Liberia National Police headquarters in Monrovia, demanding Justice for a pregnant woman who had Miscarriage, after being allegedly assaulted by a man liked to Montserrado district two Representative Jimmy Smith.
Speaking in an interview with Journalists, the Chairlady of the protesting Women, Madolleh Donzo alleged that on November 29, 2021, a Man linked to Representative Jimmy Smith beat on the Pregnant Woman; which caused her to lose her child.
Madam Madolleh said following the situation, the Man, whose name is unknown, was later taken to Zone 9 police Depot, but the Police allegedly released the suspect without any further Investigation.
According to her, the situation started when the vehicle in which the pregnant woman was riding, broke down around Rep. Smith’s House. The woman furthered that the lawmaker upon noticing the Car around his House blasted at the car driver and took the car keys to the Police, despite the pregnant Woman and the driver’s explanation that the car had broken down.
The Women are urging the Police to speedily investigate the suspect, and if found guilty, be prosecuted for his alleged action. When reports231 contacted the office Assistant to Rep. Jimmy Smith about the matter, Jose Tarnue termed the women’s protest as politically motivated.
However, the Special Assistant to Police Inspector General Patrick Sudue who responded to the women on behalf of his boss, promised that the matter will be investigated.
