Monrovia, Liberia—Three athletes from the Liberia Tennis Federation will compete in the June 1–13, 2026, International Junior Tennis Tournament in Abuja, Nigeria. The ITF J30 is part of the International Tennis Federation’s junior tournament system for players under the age of 18. The ITF Junior Circuit was established in 1977 with only nine tournaments worldwide and has since expanded into a structured global pathway for junior athletes.
The athletes representing Liberia are Freeman G. Bill, Levi K. Baker, and Answer Nyenweh. National team coach Winston Wagba Wreh will lead the delegation. The four-member Liberian delegation is expected to depart the country on May 29 and arrive in Nigeria the same day ahead of the tournament’s kickoff.
The competition categories include ITF World Junior Tennis Circuit (J30) — June 1–7 and ITF World Junior Tennis Circuit — June 8–13, 2026. The Nigeria Tennis Federation, in collaboration with the International Tennis Federation, is hosting the tournament at the Tennis Centre of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Package “B,” in Abuja.
Since Paul Jamal King became president of the Liberia Tennis Federation a few years ago, Liberia has taken part in a number of international competitions, including this one. Liberia has taken part in competitions in Ghana, Togo, and other nations in the past. Rebranding and improving Liberian tennis’s reputation abroad have been the LTF president’s main goal. In order to identify potential athletes and skills for consistent participation in international events, he has also organized a number of local junior and senior championships.
The federation has carried out training programs for technical personnel, administrators, and players in addition to holding local competitions. Among other developmental initiatives, the federation has renovated Liberia’s tennis facilities. In addition, the president of the Liberia Tennis Federation calls on potential members to contact Secretary General Daniel Dean for more information or pick up their membership forms at the federation’s headquarters at the SKD Sports Complex.
