Monrovia, Liberia – In an effort to combat payroll inconsistencies and eradicate time fraud, Senate Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence said Tuesday that the Liberian Senate has fully implemented a biometric time and attendance system.
The announcement was made during the first meeting of the second session of the 55th Legislature, which is the Senate’s second quarter. Karnga-Lawrence gave the Senate’s finance department, human resources office, and IT team credit for organizing the staff’s registration in the new system.
According to her, the implementation of biometrics is anticipated to improve workplace discipline, assist data-driven decision-making, increase productivity, and simplify efficiency. According to her, this endeavor places the Senate ahead of the government’s larger plan for digital transformation as outlined in President’s Executive Order No. 147.
Additionally, the Pro-Tempore said that the Senate has stabilized Wi-Fi access across the Capitol Building by integrating Starlink internet services into its infrastructure.
She stated that senators’ and pertinent staff members’ official email addresses are now active. The ICT expert can help you set up these accounts on the devices of your choice. According to her, the Senate Strategic Plan’s first draft is finished and is being reviewed by the leadership. The text will act as a basis for future reform and institutional growth.
She also declared that the Senate’s contract for financial consulting had been renewed. The 2024 annual financial report was just created by the company in collaboration with the Senate’s Finance Team.
Additionally completed and awaiting leadership approval are draft policies and procedure guides on petty cash management, fuel distribution, money disbursement, and fixed assets.
