FOLLOWING THE DISCOVERY OF 36 DEAD CATTLES IN FOYAH DISTRICT, LOFA COUNTY.

Free Town, Sierra Leone – Following the discovery of 36 dead cattles in a field in Foyah District, Lofa County, Liberia, Sierra Leone government has temporarily banned the transportation of cattle, goats, and sheep along the Liberia-Sierra Leone border.

The government of Sierra Leone forbids the entry of meat and meat-related items from Liberia as well as the closing of livestock markets in towns and communities near the Liberian border.

According to a news release posted on the Ministry of Information and Communications’ official Facebook page, an intergovernmental team of coordinated animal health specialists is looking into the death case.

The band will obstruct trade in cattle and other livestock across international borders in the region. The Liberian government has not yet responded to this development.
