    AS THEY RECEIVED USD$1000

Paynesville, Liberia – Following a 9-0 victory over Amazon Kickball Club in the Knockout Cup grand final on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at the SKD, Supreme Girls were crowned champions of the 2023 Liberia Kickball Federation.

Sen. Saah Joseph of Montserrado County presented them with USD$1,000 prize for winning the competition, the largest sum of money ever granted to a kickball winner in the history of the federation.

The 22-year-old Captain Perrylyn Jimmy led the 2nd division club from Caldwell to their first Top Flight victory in the LKF competition.

As they dominated Old Folks and Amazon from the beginning to the end of the competition, Miss Jimmy and her teammates demonstrated their superiority throughout.

Many kickball fans were taken aback by their performance since they had assumed that Amazon, a First League team, would win the championship. However, the ending changed the narrative.

”I wish to thank my team members for their efforts today. Even if our president and us didn’t always agree, the disagreement was resolved before the game. To our supporters, we would want to express our gratitude for supporting us from the start of the season to the end. The responsibility that comes with being a captain enabled me to play my part effectively.”

As compensation for finishing in second place, the unsuccessful finalist, Amazon KC, received 50,000 Liberian dollars from the Montserrado County Senator.

The Montserrado County Senator stated that his action is to ensure that the league becomes competitive when the cash prices were presented.

”Because there will be something bigger at the end of the season, I am doing this as motivation to see a better LKF League in future competitions for clubs to attach seriousness.”

The anticipated amount of money that the Liberia Kickball Federation was expected to award the Champions of the Knockout Cup for both the winner and the runner-up was (135, 000LRD) one hundred thirty-five thousand Liberian dollars. 100 000 LRD went to the winner and 35 000 LRD to the runners-up, but the outcome was changed by Senator Saah H. Joseph’s intervention.
