Tanzania, the first East African Country to have an Electric Railway System

Monrovia, Liberia – Tanzania established the first electrified railway system in East Africa. The nation has finished the electrical phase between Dodoma and Dar es Salaam.

The anticipated distance is 440 kilometers, and Tanzania now has the longest electrified railway system in Africa, ranking sixth.

With 15% of its railway network electrified, the nation is ranked second in Africa for the proportion of electrified railways overall. The estimated cost of the 440-kilometer railway system was USD 3.1 billion.

With the train’s top speed of 160 km/h, the trip time between the two cities has been reduced from 10 to 4 hours.
