Monrovia, Liberia – Despite two assassination attempts, two presidential impeachments, his criminal conviction, and several more criminal accusations, Trump’s triumph came four years after he left Washington as a pariah after trying to rig the 2020 election in order to remain in office.
At his Mar-a-Lago resort early on Wednesday, Trump pledged to “heal” the country, fix its borders, and deliver a robust and prosperous economy after millions of his supporters embraced his plans for a crackdown on undocumented immigrants and turned to him in frustration over the high cost of housing and food, CNN Report.
“I want to thank the American people for the extraordinary honor of being elected your 47th president and your 45th president.”
“Only the second president to win a nonconsecutive term. “This will truly be the golden age of America.”
Trump’s new mandate, however, will arouse new concerns that he intends to carry out his view that presidents have virtually unrestricted power. He has publicly discussed using America’s governance institutions, including the military, to punish his enemies, and he pledged throughout the campaign to utilize a new term in the White House to implement “retribution.” A confrontation with the courts may result from his promise to begin a wholesale deportation of unauthorized immigrants, including some who are lawful.
Following his victory in Wisconsin and his acquisition of the 270 electoral votes required to win the president, CNN predicted that Trump would win. Vice President Kamala Harris was quickly promoted to the party candidate following President Joe Biden’s already unpopular performance at the CNN debate against Trump in June, but the Democrats’ frantic attempt to stop his return to power was thwarted by his victory.
Four years earlier, in a losing race, the former president outperformed himself, placing Georgia and Pennsylvania back in the GOP column and keeping North Carolina for his party—all states that Democrats had targeted as part of the vice president’s run for the presidency.
False allegations that immigrant gangs and criminals were “occupying” the country’s towns and cities and scathing authoritarian rhetoric were key components of Trump’s campaign. However, he also capitalized on the Americans who were still suffering from the agonizing consequences of a now-cooled period of high inflation and their obvious desire for change. And while international issues simmer, he cautioned that only he could prevent a decline to World War III.
The populist foundation of the Republican Party, which he reshaped, is made up of working Americans, who he has pledged to make living more affordable and to build the greatest economy in the world. Supporters of Trump view him as a singular individual whose direct, occasionally offensive, and frequently racially provocative language exposes him as a plague of political correctness. However, the spectacle of the last few days of the campaign being dominated by the question of whether Trump is a “fascist” reflects the new threats he will likely pose to presidential decorum and democratic guarantees in the years to come, as well as the fear of at least half of the voters who supported Harris that he intends to impose authoritarian-style rule.
The president-elect is said to have paid no electoral price for his attempt to overturn the outcome of the 2020 election, which culminated in his supporters’ mob attack on the US Capitol on January 6, 2021. It is also said that Trump’s victory will undoubtedly result in the firing of special counsel Jack Smith.
Trump, at 78, is now the oldest man to be elected president, and his every move and statement as commander in chief will probably be closely examined for indications of age-related slowing down or cognitive problems after years of drawing attention to Biden’s advanced age.
Considering the radical character of his campaign, his election may potentially portend a time of unrest on a national and global scale. During his second term, Trump has promised to exact “retribution” on his political rivals and has openly discussed employing the military to combat “the enemy from within.” US partners abroad are preparing for the return of the wild foreign policy uncertainty that Trump created during his first term. Concerns have also been raised over his readiness to uphold the fundamental tenet of mutual defense within NATO.
