Monrovia, Liberia – The United Kingdom’s Ambassador to Liberia, Neil Bradley, has reaffirm the UK’s ongoing support for Liberia’s development initiatives at a meeting with the Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan.
The UK’s commitment to strengthening Liberia’s governance and development framework was emphasized by Ambassador Bradley during a meeting held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning in Monrovia.
“By putting government in the lead, the UK’s funding strengthens the government of Liberia’s contract with its people,” Ambassador Bradley said.
He said the UK’s assistance will help the future National Development Plan and it is in line with the ARREST agenda of the Liberian government. He gave an overview of the UK’s investments in important fields such as tourism, education, infrastructure, sanitation, and agriculture. He also talked about how financing for non-governmental organizations continues to strengthen neighboring people.
Minister Ngafuan, on his part, conveyed appreciation for the UK’s role in transforming Liberia. “Our transition from war to recovery and development has been made possible by the UK’s support.”
The Finance Minister of Liberia mentioned the effects that initiatives like the Chevening Scholarship have on the country’s population. Minister Ngafuan pledged to concentrate on vital industries including infrastructure, agriculture, and energy in order to realize the full potential of the economy.
He recognized the difficulties the Ministry faced, especially in achieving such lofty goals as completing the National Development Plan on schedule and preparing the national budget for parliamentary approval.
The meeting emphasized the close cooperation between the UK and Liberia, demonstrating a mutual dedication to creating a successful future for the Liberian populace.
