Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Petroleum Regulatory Authority (LPRA) has received information and communications technology (ICT) equipment from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), marking a major advancement in institutional capacity and transparency.
Held on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the LPRA offices in Monrovia, the handover ceremony reaffirms UNDP’s dedication to promoting institutional efficiency and digital transformation throughout Liberia’s public sector.
The $37,520.85 worth of equipment includes, among other things, PCs, servers, routers, printers, data storage devices, air conditioners, smart TVs, and a projector. Enhancing LPRA’s data management, interagency collaboration, and regulatory supervision in the petroleum industry is the goal of the activity.
UNDP Liberia’s Deputy Resident Representative for Program, Mr. Louis Kuukpen, spoke during the occasion and emphasized the value of contemporary digital infrastructure in enhancing government and service provision.
Mr. Kuukpen expressed his confidence that the LPRA will use this assistance to improve accountability and transparency in Liberia’s petroleum governance industry. “Today’s handover represents an investment in institutional capacity and national growth, not merely the transfer of equipment.”
Support for the Government of Liberia’s digital development strategy, he added, is in line with the UNDP’s Country Programme objective, which places a high priority on digital innovation, inclusive governance, and institutional building as essential pillars of sustainable development.
Marilyn T. Logan, the Director General of the Authority, accepted the items on behalf of the Authority and conveyed her sincere gratitude for the ongoing support and dedication to bolstering public institutions, promoting the digitization of government operations, and assisting civil servants’ professional growth through technical assistance and training.
This kind gift arrives at a critical juncture as the LPRA works to modernize its IT infrastructure systems in an effort to boost operational effectiveness, strengthen regulatory roles, and improve service quality, Logan said.
