Ganta, Nimba County – Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung has urged all Liberians, public servants, and private individuals to actively engage in agricultural development, whether it be through large-scale farming initiatives or modest household gardens. He noted that such initiatives are necessary to promote the government’s ARREST goal in all areas.
The rich soil in Liberia is a blessing, and even a cassava stick planted there may provide surprising and beneficial effects. According to the Vice President, Liberia is a treasure trove of opportunity. These statements were made on Friday, May 6, 2026, when the transplanting of more than 35,000 palm seedlings on his plantation in Ganta, Nimba County, got underway.
Vice President Koung reiterated that agriculture is still a key component of Liberia’s development plan. He added that from 2019 to 2021, while he was a senator and representative for Nimba County, he farmed more than 100 acres of lowland before being elected vice president.
Many farmers, including women and other agricultural organizations, around the area received the harvest from his initial planting.
The Vice President emphasized the significance of the energy and agricultural sectors in drawing in investment, promoting economic expansion, and furthering national advancement. He exhorted Liberians to actively participate in these fields in order to secure the nation’s prosperity in the future.
