REPRESENTS PRES. BOAKAI IN NIGERIA
Monrovia, Liberia – Jeremiah Kpan Koung, the vice president of Liberia, has wrapped up his formal visit to the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Vice President Koung traveled to Nigeria on February 14, 2024, to represent President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., following the Inaugural Ceremonies of His Excellency Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State.
According to the vice president’s office, the vice president’s visit included meetings with several senior Nigerian government figures to strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Liberia.
Outside of the inaugural festivities, VP Koung and Governor Diri spoke about possible partnerships in the petroleum business between Bayelsa State and how to attract investors.
The Vice President also said that by establishing new channels for collaboration, Liberia and Bayelsa State might optimize the potential of their respective economies in the areas of fishing and agriculture. Vice President Koung also had a conversation with Nigerian Vice President Kashim Shettima.
Along with reiterating their commitment to bolstering the long-standing diplomatic ties between both nations and peoples, the two leaders acknowledged the necessity of creating solid economic ties. VP Koung had productive talks with the former president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo.
