VP Taylor Encourages Young Girls to start thinking about their future by striving to become Responsible Women.

Monrovia, Liberia – Liberia Vice President, Madam Jewel Howard Taylor has urged young girls to start thinking about their future by striving to become women who will be accountable, provide for themselves, and reach greater heights in any endeavor in society.

She encouraged the young girls to dream big and make sure their dreams come true by obtaining an education and the necessary skills to participate fully in Liberia’s changing global environment.

Vice President Taylor made the assertion when she spoke at a one-day mentorship forum organized by the Books Before Boys in Monrovia during the weekend.

The Vice President outlined how female leaders in Liberia have been out front in pushing for young girls to be given the space to develop, learn, dream, and inspire in order to become successful women for the past 20 years and beyond.

She voiced concern regarding the social activities of some young people who have become enamored with money instead of putting themselves in position for the future.

“It doesn’t matter where you come from, it can be West Point, Slip Way, and Old Road, you have to make your dream a reality. What matters is that God has given you a life and you need determine your dreams because the sky is just the beginning. Once you make your mind to do something, be confident in yourself and do it.”

Every child is born with a dream, and it is up to them to grow up and make that ideal a reality with the help of their family and the wider community, according to Madam Taylor.

Meanwhile, the vice president of Liberia has sternly warned young girls to avoid ruining their lives by getting involved in unhealthy activities that could expose them to ricks and to hold themselves in high regard in order to earn the respect of their male counterparts.

She warned them not to be swayed by worldly things that would ultimately destroy their lives, frustrate them, and cause them to die young.

The girls were cautioned by Vice President Taylor to be careful with their dress standards and other social interactions, as well as with developing relationships and sexual awareness early in life.

“You have to be cautious with fast life to do crazy and strange things; it does not take you anywhere because if you are not healthy, your goals and aspirations will die. I don’t believe I’ve had five partners that I’ve slept with, and I’m 60 years old. The guy I want will approach me on foot. Young people can be seen sleeping everywhere and engaging in various forms of life.”

Young girls from schools across Montserrado County participated in the event, which was also attended by the British ambassador, Neil Bradley.
