WHILE LISCR FC SECURES JUST FC SERVICE
Monrovia, Liberia -Watanga FC and Upper Women’s Football Club Shaita Angels have announced a two-year partnership agreement. In accordance with the agreement, Shaita Angels will take over as Watanga FC’s female club in the following two years, the club said on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, on its official Facebook page.
The 2022/2023 LFA Women’s Lower League champion Shaita Angels FC also advanced to the 2023 Women’s Orange FA Cup Final, where they fell to Determine Girls FC 2-1.
Watanga FC made the decision to acquire Shaita Angels in order to comply with CAF’s directive to all member associations that all clubs who wish to compete in the 2023–24 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup must field a women’s football squad.
Only clubs having women’s football teams will be permitted to compete in the two continental interclub championships, according to the rule.
Watanga FC will represent Liberia in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2023–2024, while LISCR FC, the 2023–2024 LFA Double Champions, will compete in the Champions League.
In order to comply with CAF licensing requirements, LISCR also established a collaboration agreement with freshly elevated Upper Women’s Club Just FC as their female club.
In the most recent round of the contests, LISCR took home both the Orange National League and the Orange Cup.
