Monrovia, Liberia โ€“ The Ministry of Public Works has clarafies report os spending US$22 Million for roads rehabilitation across Liberia. Minister Roland Giddings claimed that only US$8.9 Million has been given to road contractors.

Recall that on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at President Joseph Boakaiโ€™s 100-day deliverables, officials of the Ministry of Public Works acknowledged to senators from Liberia that they had made mistakes and inadvertent steps in carrying out the US $22 million road project.

However, Minister Giddings informed reporters in a local media interview that just US$8.9 million of the US$22 million allowed had been distributed to the contractors.

In spite of accusations from certain Liberians and the opposition community that the money has been used by the ministry, he continued, the US $22 million will be used for road rehabilitations for the next two years, or until 2026.

Over 700 kilometers of roads throughout the entire county will receive road rehabilitations worth US$8.9 million, according to the head of Public Works. He said he will not do anything to compromise his ethics because he has a very spotless record of serving the public.
