A three-day forum, under the theme-Innovation and Reform- Strengthening Liberia’s Public Procurement System organized by the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission has kick-started in Monrovia. The opening ceremony of the third annual forum brought together stakeholders from the government, donor partners, civil society organizations, the media, and the general public. Montserrado County District #13 Representative Edward Flomo has commenced the rehabilitation of major roads in the district. Representative Flomo as part of his initiative undertook the erection of the Chocolate City Road which has been in a deplorable situation for some time. Montserrado County Senator Saah Joseph has descended on Unity Party Standard Bearer Joseph Boakai, stating that Amb. Boakai lacks the international contact to solicit humanitarian aid for the people of Liberia. Senator Joseph alleged that former Vice President Boakai is seeking assistance from partners in the United States, who usually provide humanitarian aid to him, Saah Joseph, for the people of Montserrado County. BBC Liberia journalist Jonathan Paye-Lay-Leh has termed the journalism profession in Liberia as a sacrificial job despite its advocacy for the public. Speaking as a lecturer at the opening of the Passion Developer Media Training center in Paynesville over the weekend, Paye-Lay-Leh noted that journalists are not wealthy people because of their quest to expose ills in society. The Supreme Court bench, excluding Associate Justice Jamesetta Wolokollie, has reserved rulings into the separate Bill of information filed by Lofa County Senator-elect Brownie Samukai and the Ministry of Justice. The University of Liberia students on Wednesday went on the rampage in Monrovia as a result of lecturers abandoning classes. It can be recalled that President Weah declared free tuition at the premium university after taking seat at the highest office of the land, promising to uplift the standard of the institution including its workers. But it seems the president’s promise has resulted in nothing, causing lecturers to have abundant classes, creating no avenue for learning at the State-run university. The Management of the John F. Kennedy Medical Center says it has been challenged with the water supply at the Liberian-Japanese Friendship Maternity Hospital since Sunday, November 28, 2021. According to a release issued Wednesday, December 1, 2021, this is due to power fluctuation from the national grid that damaged the water pumps. The release further says efforts were made immediately to have the pumps replaced, but due to the public holiday, all vendors were closed.
