China Concurs with Boakai’s ARREST Agenda.

    Honors Amity With Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia – Liberia’s connection with China, the Asian economic giant with a history of intense diplomatic engagements, including economic collaboration, is strengthening as evidenced by China’s backing for President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s “ARREST Agenda.”

Supporting Liberia through win-win collaboration and mutually beneficial relationships is more than just political support; it is a commitment to building a strong, transparent, and wealthy country.

China-Liberia relations have improved and entered a new stage under the “great” leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Liberian President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, according to Chinese Ambassador to Liberia YIN Chengwu, who gave the keynote address at the China-Liberia Friendship School graduation ceremony on Saturday, July 20, 2024.

Over 26 students who had graduated from the kindergarten and primary categories of the school were informed by Ambassador YIN that, despite the thousands of miles that separate them, China still views Liberia as a close friend, brother, and partner. As part of this friendship, China supports the advancement of education for Liberian youth.

The Chinese ambassador mentioned that China had just constructed the Tobyville Elementary School in Maryland County, the Monrovia Vocational Training Center, and the Fendall Campus of the University of Liberia.

The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex, the JFD Hospital in Tapita, Nimba County, and the Capitol Building Annex are among the other projects that China has supported. Additionally, according to Ambassador YIN, China offers Liberians annual opportunities like internships and scholarships.

Economic cooperation is a fundamental aspect of the relationship between China and Liberia. China has made significant investments in mining, agricultural, and infrastructure development, making it one of Liberia’s main trading partners.

The Chinese envoy urged the pupils of the China-Liberia Friendship School to seek for scholarships so they could study in China and then come back to serve in Liberia, so they could take advantage of all the opportunities available in China.

The 26 grads, he added, had grown remarkably; they had gained information and improved their teamwork, communication, and thinking skills. In light of the promising and challenging future, he counseled the graduates that graduation marks a new beginning rather than an end.

“You own the future. I hope you’ll always have a healthy curiosity about the world, uphold excellent study habits, and be appreciative of life, no matter what the future brings. Ambassador YIN emphasized, “I hope you will also be resilient, courageous, cherish friendships, and pursue your dreams.”
