Chinese Embassy in Liberia Celebrates 105th Anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China

Monrovia, Liberia – Chinese Ambassador to Liberia Yin Chengwu said the Communist Party of China has transformed the nation over the past 105 years from one facing poverty and national humiliation into a modern global economic powerhouse.

The ambassador traced the CPC’s journey from its founding in 1921 with just over 50 members to becoming the world’s largest governing political party with more than 100 million members, leading a country of over 1.4 billion people.

He highlighted the Party’s achievements in securing national independence, establishing socialism, implementing economic reforms and opening-up policies, and lifting nearly 800 million rural residents out of absolute poverty, an accomplishment he described as historic.

Yin attributed China’s progress to a people-centred approach, strong party discipline, continuous self-reform and a development path tailored to China’s national conditions rather than foreign models.

He said the CPC remains committed to promoting global peace, modernisation and shared development through initiatives such as the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilisation Initiative and Global Governance Initiative.

The ambassador pledged China’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with Liberia through exchanges on governance, development and modernisation while expanding collaboration based on equality, mutual respect and non-interference in each other’s internal affairs.

Proposing a toast to Presidents Xi Jinping and Joseph Boakai, Ambassador Yin expressed confidence that the friendship between China and Liberia would continue to deepen as both nations pursue greater prosperity and closer strategic cooperation.

Also speaking, Liberian leader Joseph Boakai reaffirmed his government’s steadfast support for the One-China Policy, recognizing the government of the People’s Republic of China as the sole legitimate government representing China, describing the policy as the cornerstone of the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Monrovia and Beijing.

He added that; “The Liberia-China partnership continues to grow stronger because it is built on trust, mutual respect, mutual benefit and a shared vision for development.”
