Monrovia, Liberia – A nonviolent protest against the Liberia National Police No-go Zone restrictions, which are scheduled to go into effect on May 15, 2024, has been threatened by commercial motorcyclists in Monrovia.
Speaking to our reporter, the motorcyclists complained that their rights under article 17 of the Liberian Constitution were being violated by the National Government.
However, they insisted on receiving immediate employment from the Unity Party government, claiming that the proposed No-go Zone limitations on their access to specific areas would jeopardize their capacity to support their families and take away their means of subsistence.
The national government has also received the motorcycle riders’ credentials in order to hire them immediately as per promise by national government to organize other programs to accommodate motorcyclists.
