Defending County meet Champions Lofa County started the 2021/2022 edition of the National County Sports Meet with victory over neighbors Gbarpolu County in Group D on Sunday, December 12, 2021.
Cece United attacker Robin Hyne scored in the 2nd half to hang Lofa County all three points in their opening match. Group D matches are scheduled at the C.H. Dewey sports pitch in Tubmenburg, Bomi County. Lofa County kickball Team also produced a 1:0 home run victory over Gbarpolu County in the kickball category.
In other group D matches, host Bomi County whipped Grand Cape Mount County 7:0 home runs in the kickball category but lost the football match 2:3 to Cape Mount.
